Jamie:
Technically, we met sometime in January of 2006, but we found each other on Myspace. Yes, Myspace. You can stop giggling now. :)
We met in person soon after on Valentine’s Day. Melissa is the shortest girl I’ve ever dated, and upon meeting her for the first time, I felt gargantuan. Here was this tiny shy girl, with a sweet smile staring up at me. She melted my heart near instantaneously. She had a playful nature that I found so refreshing and wonderful.
Over the following months, we dated somewhat casually. A date here or there. Dinner one time, a movie another. I didn’t know it then, but her magic nature was infecting me. I was falling in love with her.
By June I knew that I was in love with her, but I was shy to tell her. When I told her I loved her, it was a surprise to me. It came out of my mouth without my thinking about it, and it felt so natural and right.
In November of 2007, Melissa took me to Montreal for my birthday. By then, I already knew I wanted to marry her. My plan was to ask her to marry me on our second anniversary, but there was a moment lying in our Montreal hotel room that was so perfect, so right that I couldn’t resist asking. I’ve never seen such a wide smile on her face as I did that day. Being engaged to her has given me a smile just as big. I love her with all my heart and I can’t wait until we’re husband and wife.
Melissa:
This is how I became Melissa Joy Nazaroff.
One day in 2006 on myspace, while looking for new people to befriend, I found Jamie Nazaroff. His page intrigued me. He was looking for literate people on myspace. The challenge was on. Our first conversation was all about coffee beans. I was hooked.
Jamie let me know that he wasn’t looking for anything serious, so I let him make all the moves. On July 1
st, I let Jamie be the first to say, “I love you”. I think I fell asleep smiling.
Soon after, I knew I wanted to see Jamie everyday. Vanessa spilled the beans in November 2006, but Jamie was sweet and pretended that he didn’t know until I asked him to move in with me in January 2007.
I knew Jamie was happy living with me, but I worried he would never want to get married. I asked him once if he ever thought about marriage and he said yes, so I let it rest with that. I had to let him keep making the moves.
In November 2007, I took Jamie to Montreal. Just before midnight the day before his birthday, I gave him a titanium ring. All I remember is Jamie asking, “Melissa Joy Stubbs, will you marry me?’ and me saying yes. I know I fell asleep with a huge smile on my face.
Not a day has passed since I met Jamie that he hasn’t made me smile. I can’t tell you how happy I am to be joined with this man for the rest of my life.
On February 14th, 2009, I became Melissa Joy Nazaroff. One of the best days of my life. Every day since has been better than the last.
